On behalf of Norway Senior High School, we are thrilled to announce that Ashley Carlson has been named a Coca-Cola Scholars Program Semifinalist!
Ashley is one of approximately 1,300 semifinalists selected from more than 105,000 applicants nationwide. This honor marks the first of three phases in the prestigious scholarship selection process. Semifinalists will complete the second application phase in December, with 250 regional finalists advancing to January selections. Ultimately, 150 seniors will be chosen to receive a $20,000 college scholarship.
Ashley, the daughter of Lisa and Grant Carlson of Norway, is ranked #1 in her class and has pursued the most rigorous academic coursework available. She has also volunteered countless hours tutoring Norway students and excels as a multi-sport athlete. This year, she was an integral member of our District Championship volleyball team, and she has participated in volleyball, basketball, and softball throughout high school.
A standout student leader, Ashley serves as:

• YAC Club President
• Leo Club Vice President
• Student Council Vice President
• American Red Cross Student Blood Drive Co-Coordinator (since 2022)
She is also active in Big Brothers/Big Sisters and Quizbowl.
Of particular note, Ashley co-founded the Norway Environmental Club and presented at NMU’s Climate at Noon event about climate change. Beyond school, she works part-time at Mouw & Celello and Norway Eye Care, further demonstrating her commitment to service and her community.
Ashley plans to attend college next fall to pursue a career in Optometry.

The DAR Good Citizenship Award is presented to one student who exemplifies the qualities of dependability, leadership, and patriotism. Alyssa demonstrates all of these qualities and more. She is an exceptional student, a dedicated club member, and a positive role model within our school community.
Alyssa is an active member of YAC, Key Club, LEO Club, Student Council, and National Honor Society, and has volunteered at Red Cross Blood Drives since her freshman year. She also participates in volleyball and is a committed member of 4-H.
Key Club advisor Sarah Freiberg shared:
