After 20 years as Norway High School's Secretary, Tami Nelson is beginning a well-deserved new chapter.
Throughout her years at NHS, Tami has been so much more than a secretary. She has been a trusted resource for teachers, parents, students, and staff—always ready with an answer, a helping hand, and a kind smile.
As the leader of our YAC and LEO Club, Tami has inspired countless students through service and leadership. She has been instrumental in organizing blood drives, coordinating classroom coverage, recruiting volunteers for school and community events, and keeping so many behind-the-scenes details running smoothly. No matter the challenge, Tami was always willing to step in and help.
Her dedication, compassion, and positive attitude have made a lasting impact on our school community. The relationships she has built with students and staff over the past two decades are a testament to the care and commitment she brought to work every day.
Tami, thank you for your years of service, your unwavering support, and the countless ways you've made Norway High School a better place. You will be greatly missed, but we wish you all the best as you enjoy this exciting new chapter.
💙 Congratulations on your retirement, and thank you for everything! 💙

☀️🎿 Just think… in a few short months we’ll be back in a winter wonderland!
Each year our 4th graders have the best day on the ski hill, thanks to our amazing PTO. 💙
Trying something new—like skiing—builds confidence and creates unforgettable memories. This summer, challenge yourself to learn something new outside! Try mountain biking, swimming, hiking, kayaking, or a new sport. 🌞

These students helped keep our school grounds looking their best by spending time cleaning up around campus. Their efforts remind us that even small acts of service can have a big impact.
As you continue to enjoy your summer break, consider finding a way to help others in your community. Pick up litter at a park, help a neighbor with yard work, volunteer your time, or look for another way to lend a hand. Every act of kindness makes a difference!

Take a cue from our 7th graders, who enjoyed some fun Field Day activities to celebrate the end of the school year. The games were filled with teamwork, laughter, and plenty of friendly competition.
Just because school is out doesn't mean the fun has to stop! This summer, challenge yourself to stay active, spend time outdoors, try new games with friends and family, and look for opportunities to work together as a team. And don't forget to stay hydrated and drink plenty of water while you're enjoying the summer sunshine! 💧😎
Have a safe, active, and fun summer, Knights!

Rising Above: How Norway-Vulcan Defies National Academic Trends!
A major new study featured in The New York Times reveals a "generation-long decline" in U.S. test scores. Nationally, only 17% of schools improved in reading over the last decade, and just 30% improved in math.
But here at Norway-Vulcan Area Schools? Our Knights are rewriting the script!
While the rest of the nation and the State of Michigan faced academic declines, look at what our students accomplished between 2015 and 2025!
READING: While 83% of U.S. districts lost ground, NVAS students GAINED 0.3 grade levels—putting us nearly a full grade level ahead of the Michigan state average!
MATH: While 70% of U.S. districts dropped, NVAS students achieved a staggering GAIN of 2.3 grade levels!
Parents, you can rest easy knowing that your children are receiving a top-tier, competitive education that completely defies national trends.
Huge shoutout to our hardworking students, our relentless educators, and our supportive community. We aren't just keeping up; we are leading the way!

Mismatched outfits, matched school spirit 💙
Our teachers showed up and showed out for Spirit Week!

We are looking for the right person to become our new Speech Language Pathologist, if you know of someone, please send them our way! For the full document, head to our website official posting!
Students spent the day enjoying the outdoors, fishing, exploring, and learning from a DNR officer who shared valuable knowledge about fishing, conservation, and outdoor recreation.
Experiences like these provide hands-on learning opportunities and create memories that last long after the school year ends. Thank you to everyone who helped make this day a success!

Last week, they had the opportunity to share their hard work with Mrs. Klein’s 2nd grade class by reading their stories aloud. It was wonderful to see our older students serving as reading role models while proudly presenting the books they created from start to finish.
Great job, 6th graders, on your creativity, dedication, and willingness to share your work with others!
