Our Norway-Vulcan Area Schools Student of the Week for the week of 5/8/2026 is Ayden Ponchaud, son of Mike and Terra Ponchaud of Norway. Ayden is a junior at Norway High School and participates in basketball and baseball.

Our Norway-Vulcan Area Schools Student of the Week for May 1 was Owen Baij, son of Karen and Brett Baij of Norway. Owen is a senior at Norway High School and participates in football, baseball, basketball, and golf.
Congratulations to Owen Baij! Owen is a strong leader in athletics who consistently demonstrates teamwork, dedication, and sportsmanship. Beyond his athletic achievements, he is courteous, respectful, and a positive representative of our school in everything he does. We are proud of the example he sets for others!
May 1st was National Principal's Day! Mrs. DeBakker’s Early Kindergarten class had so much fun celebrating and honoring a leader who goes above and beyond for our students, staff, and school community every single day. From greeting students each morning with a smile to creating a safe, supportive place where kids can learn and grow, Mr. Mendina’s impact is felt in countless ways.
One of the sweetest parts of the celebration was hearing directly from our students about what makes Mr. Mendina so special — from “helping people” and “keeping us safe” to simply saying “good morning” and making everyone feel seen. Their thoughtful words and artwork truly said it all.

Our Norway-Vulcan Area Schools Student of the Week recognition from April that was unfortunately missed is Ella Wotowicz, daughter of Andrea and Brian Wotowicz. Ella is a senior at Norway High School and is actively involved in tennis, basketball, and golf. She is also a member of LEO Club, YAC Club, High School Bowl, Key Club, Big Brothers/Big Sisters, Student Council, and serves as the Red Cross Blood Drive Coordinator.

This year Norway High School held their National Honor Society induction ceremony on Wednesday, March 18th. Seniors Maddex Burklund, Anna Debidart, Lauren Adams, and Josh Schiltz were inducted along with juniors Tessa Castelaz, Isabel Lawnicki, Matthew Doney, Chloe Mitchem, Eli Dube, Jordyn Moln, Kaylee Gendron, Chloe Patton, Myah Gilroy, Marisa Pipp, Jessa Rossler, Jade Welcenbach and Tori Trudeau. • Eligibility: Students must have a birthdate on or before September 13, 2011
• Class size: Limited to 36 students (first come, first served)

From managing budgets and making financial decisions at the Reality Fair, to sharpening their communication skills during Mock Interviews, to taking an active role in their future through Voter Registration, our students experienced what it means to step confidently into adulthood.
These hands-on experiences are just one of the many ways we’re preparing our graduates for success beyond high school.
