Dear Norway-Vulcan Area Schools Students and Families,
I hope this letter finds you as excited as I am to kick off the 2025-26 school year! My name is Tony Mendina and I am honored to serve as the new Elementary School Principal here at NVAS. As a proud 2002 graduate of Norway-Vulcan Area Schools, it is an absolute privilege to work in a district that means so much to me, alongside a team of incredibly talented educators who bring passion, commitment, and care to their classrooms every single day. I am stepping into this role with enthusiasm for the work ahead and sincere gratitude for the trust and responsibility that comes with serving our students, families, and community.
Our elementary school is filled with dedicated, experienced teachers who consistently go above and beyond to support students academically, socially, and emotionally. I am grateful to be part of such an inspiring professional community. It is truly humbling to be trusted to serve in a leadership role among this exceptional group of educators.
My wife Cameo and I are proud to be raising our three children; Grayson (8), Aslyn (6), and Adley (3), in this wonderful, supportive community. Seeing our children grow and learn each day reminds me why the work we do in education is so important. Outside of school, you’ll often find me coaching various sports, fishing, or enjoying the outdoors with my family.
As an educator with teaching experience across the elementary, middle, and high school levels, I bring both a wide-ranging perspective on student growth and an unwavering commitment to the success of our students, families, and staff. What I value most about this opportunity is the chance to serve a school and community I care deeply about, while working together to strengthen instructional practices, school culture, and ultimately, student achievement.
Throughout my life and career, I have embraced leadership opportunities that reflect my passion for service to others and collaboration. As your principal, I will bring an intense focus on both academic growth and the social-emotional well-being of every student. I am committed to ensuring that our students receive engaging, high-quality instruction every day, and I believe that schools are most effective when built on strong, caring relationships.
I am truly honored to have the opportunity to make a difference in the lives of our students and families. The responsibility of this role is one that I do not take lightly. I pledge to give my very best every day and look forward to working together with you to continue the success of Norway-Vulcan Elementary School.
GO KNIGHTS!
With gratitude and excitement,
Tony Mendina
